Once a Superking, forever a Superking,” the statement read. The Super Kings also officially announced their decision to part ways with bowling coach Eric Simons. As previously reported by TimesofIndia.com, former India pacer Mohit Sharma is set to join Zaheer’s support staff as the new bowling coach.Assistant coach Rajiv Kumar and outfield coach James Foster will also leave the staff before the 2027 season. The franchise also decided not to retain physical therapist Tommy Simsek and strength and conditioning coach Gregory King.Meanwhile, former England spinner Gareth Batty has joined CSK as an assistant coach. Batty, 49, has played nine Tests, 10 ODIs and one T20I for England. He knows Zaheer, having worked with him during their time in England’s Worcestershire.CSK’s changes come after three seasons in which the franchise failed to match its previous success. Since winning the IPL title in 2023, the team has finished fifth in 2024, 10th in 2025 and eighth in 2026.The team’s performances led to the end of his long association with Fleming, who has since taken charge of the England Test team. Zaheer has replaced the New Zealander as head coach, with IPL 2027 being his first assignment at CSK.
