Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao directed senior officials of various ministries to prepare a special action plan to secure allocations for the state from the central government.
The chief secretary wanted officials to take steps to ensure that the state gets maximum funds through centrally sponsored schemes for which the Center has proposed an allocation of ₹5 lakh crore in the 2026-27 budget. The state should get at least ₹25,000 crore under CSS as it has 15% of the country’s population, he said.
Officials should focus on getting maximum funds from allocations for pharma, semiconductor manufacturing, agriculture and related sectors. Mr. Ramakrishna Rao on Tuesday held a meeting with Special Chief Secretaries, Chief Secretaries and senior officials of various departments in the light of the Union Budget tabled in Parliament.
He said officials could use the space to develop a temple corridor connecting Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts. With permission granted for Mamnoor Airport in Warangal, we should focus on tourism and industrial development in these districts, he said.
The officials concerned should also focus on convincing the Center to release ₹10,000 crore dues related to the current financial year. Referring to the grants, the XVI Finance Commission said funds would be sanctioned on the basis of the population in 2011 and also on the basis of demographic indicators, effective implementation of programmes, utilization of funds and other factors. The commission has primarily focused on development indicators for sanctioning funds and officials should focus on steps to secure funds allocated to the state but lying unused at the centre, he said.
