The 41-year-old forward has not featured for his club Al-Nassr since the end of February, but Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez has assured the injury is not serious.
“Not in danger” for the World Cup
Martinez played down concerns over Ronaldo’s fitness as he suffers a hamstring injury ahead of the global tournament:“It’s a minor injury,” Martinez told a news conference, adding that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could return “within a week or two”.“Everything that Cristiano has done physically this season shows that he is going through a great spell and that he has no physical problems. “At the World Cup, the center forward position will be for Cristiano Ronaldo and Goncalo Ramos. We are looking for a third striker with a different profile.”
Portugal’s last preparation before the World Cup
Portugal will take over:
- Mexico March 28 in Mexico City
- United States April 1 in Atlanta
“This is the last chance to experiment because it’s the last training camp before the World Cup squad is named,” Martinez said.
