Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday warned that crimes committed in the guise of politics would not be tolerated.

Responding to the debate on the Motion of Thanks for the Governor’s Address in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Naidu said the government would act sternly against those who try to disturb the peace or undermine public institutions.

He said that when the NDA government assumed office, the state was in disarray because the previous administration failed to maintain stability and allowed disorder to prevail.

Mr. Naidu accused the YSRCP of resorting to serious financial mismanagement in the power sector during its tenure. He alleged that YSRCP left behind ₹1,22,422 crore in electricity charges, with the electricity charges increasing manifold. Reiterating that the coalition government would not increase electricity tariffs in the next three years, the chief minister said it had absorbed ₹4,860 crore.

He said that an action plan of ₹1,00,000 has been prepared for the development of Rayalaseema as a horticulture hub. Of this, ₹30,000 crore would be spent from government funds and ₹70,000 crore would be mobilized through private investment. Pointing out that the current production of the fruit has exceeded 400 lakh MT annually, he said the aim is to increase it to 1,000 lakh MT, making the region a major horticultural hub.

Mr Naidu said aquaculture had suffered a setback under the previous regime and announced the supply of power to the sector at ₹1.50 per unit. He claimed that payments for paddy purchases were made within 24 hours and said more emphasis would be placed on value addition for crops such as coconut, cocoa and coffee. Mr. Naidu said the government was taking steps to prevent farmer suicides and conducted audits of every such incident.

Referring to the upcoming final exams, he urged students to face them stress-free and emphasized that suicide is not the solution to exam failure.

Land records

On land administration, Mr. Naidu claimed that land records were disorganized under the previous regime. He said the coalition government was inundated with complaints about land disputes and it was found that land was arbitrarily placed under Section 22-A restrictions if the owners did not comply with the unreasonable demands of the ruling party leaders. He said it took his government a year to correct the irregularities. He said all revenue records would be cleaned and reissued with official seals, ensuring security for every landowner.

The Chief Minister said that as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and logistics, the government has announced major reforms, including ₹3,000 crore worth of railway projects, and cited the four-lane railway line from Ichchapuram, expected within two years, which will expand capacity for freight and passenger transport. The Center has also proposed large-scale national highway projects while ₹4,000 crore has been spent on improving rural road connectivity, he said, exuding confidence that under the “twin engine” government, the state will deliver “triple results”.
