
Overall crime in the state fell 5.5%, with 16 counties reporting a decrease in incidents and 10 reporting an increase.
The crime data report till November 25, 2025 was submitted by DGP Harish Kumar Gupta to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a recent crime review meeting.
According to the data, 1,04,095 cases are registered this year, in 2024 it was 1,10,111 cases. There was an increase in the number of economic crimes, traffic accidents and property crimes.
Increase in crime was recorded in Annamayya district (9.5%), Konaseema (8.5%), Nellore (7.8%), Guntur and Tirupati (6.5%), Sri Satya Sai (4.8%), Parvathipuram Manyam (2.7%), Kakinada (2%), East Godavari (1.5%) and Kurnool.
There has been an increase in cases related to attempted murder, housebreaking and theft. According to police officials, detection of property crimes was 56% and enforcement was 55%.
A total of 8,035 economic crimes were registered, including fraud and breach of trust crimes (an increase of 6.6%). In 2024, 7,539 cases of economic crime were registered.
Cybercrime cases fell to 1,771 from 2,853 in 2024. Victims lost about ₹751 crore to cyber fraud this year, while the police froze about ₹89 crore in banks and recovered nearly ₹2.21 crore, this year.
Operation Tracing
As many as 16,288 cases were registered this year, including rape and murder, gang-rape, cybercrime and assault on women, down from 16,913 in 2024.
However, cases of crimes against women increased in Sri Satya Sai, Nellore, Vizianagaram, Kadapa, Guntur, Annamayya, Palnadu, Parvathipuram Manyam and Tirupati districts.
On the other hand, during a law and order review held a few days ago, police officers told the chief minister that 1,177 missing girls and 2,483 women have been traced under ‘Operation Tracking’ in the last four months.
Drug cases
As many as 6,139 accused were arrested under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) 1985. The police impounded 721 vehicles and seized property worth about ₹9 crore belonging to the offenders. They took 68 accused under the Prevention of Illegal Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, police officials said.
Police detected 6,993 cases with the help of 347 drones and increased surveillance of ganja peddling and consumption, gambling, eve-teasing and other crimes through drones.
Out of the total number of 26,518 rioters in AP, 11,728 were bound, 15 were external and PD Act was applied against 153 criminals.
The Andhra Pradesh Police has achieved significant results in the fight against Left Wing Extremism (LWE) with the help of their counterparts in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. In 2025, about 58 Maoists were arrested and about 16 top naxalites were neutralized, police said.
