Investigations of cases registered in various parts of Kerala on the alleged frauds of CSR funds will now be led by the relevant superintendents of the Wings district crimes, while the government does not replace the head of the police, who was transferred in the management of a special investigative team (SIT).
Sit remained without a head since June after MJ Sojan, who was then SP, Central Unit-II, a branch of crime, Ernacula, was transferred as a SP, a special cell, alertness and anti-corruption office, Ernacula. Mr. Sojan was assigned to the leadership of an 80-member team that examined a scam in which people were reportedly cheated on fake promising scooters and laptops for half the price using fake CSR funds. The police managed to arrest Anantha Krishhnana, the main accused, and the second accused KN Ananda Kumar, who is co -founder of Sri Satya Sai Orphanage Trust, allegedly revealed their role in fraud as a flood of complaints. The duo has been transported since then.
Although the government’s opinion that there is no need to name a new head on a SIT has raised concerns about the fate of a coordinated investigation between the victims, the police resources involved in this matter have stated that concerns are in place. “The main procedures for the investigation have already been completed. Cases will now take care of the relevant criminal branch file no. Other SIT members are still part of the team. There has been no communication that the SIT would dissolve,” the policeman said.
The police registered 1,343 cases related to fraud until March 12, 2025, according to the response submitted by the main Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Keraral Assembly on March 17th. He stated that the accused had collected 281.43 GBP Crore from 49,386 people, giving them two two tanners in half of the cost. Of these, only 16 438 people were provided.
In addition, out of 36,891 people, of whom the accused gathered crore 9.22 GBP, which promised them laptops for half the price, only 29,897 people were provided. Similarly, of 56,082 persons, from whom 23.24 GBP Crore was collected for a similar sewing machine system was provided only to 53,478 persons, the main minister said.
In his answer to the Assembly, the Minister said that the accused had gained public confidence by publishing their photographs with well -known personalities. They also appointed coordinators and field staff in various regions across Kerala. In the first phase, all the women who joined the scheme got at half the price, which led many people to trust this system and join it. However, those who joined later did not get anything even after the money they were made after the complaints were filed.
