After a 128 -year break, the cricket gets a very expected return to the Olympics, which takes care of the center phase in La28 from 12 to 29.
Olympic cricket competition 2028 It will present six teams in the categories of men and women, a total of 180 players compete in the T20 format – a rapidly developing, globally popular version of the game. According to the schedule issued by the La28 organizational committee, most of the matches will contain double headers, although no matches are set at 14 and 21 July. The medal is scheduled for 20 July (women) and 29 July (men).
Each team will consist of a 15-member group and fully use 90 athlet quotas assigned to sex. This format allows competitive depth and at the same time maintains a compact event and suitable for viewers, which is in line with the aim of attracting a new audience.
The Olympic history is remarkably short – the sport was played only once, during the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900, where only two teams, Great Britain and France faced a two -day match. Great Britain claimed gold in what became a footnote under the Olympic tradition – so far.
The revival of the cricket on the Olympic scene coincides with the expanding global trace of sport. The recent World Cup Men T20 ICC Men’s Men, which hosted the US and West Indies, presented matches in American places such as Grand Prairie (Texas), Lauderhill (Florida) and New York, offering a clear view of the growing American presence of cricket.
Criket is one of the five new sports approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for LA28, along with baseball/softball, flagship, lacrosse (six) and squash – all selected for their broad attraction and involvement of youth.
In the commentary on the vision of the Los Angeles Games, the mayor of Karen Bass said,
“When the world comes here for these games, we highlight all neighborhoods when we host games for all and work to ensure that it leaves a monumental heritage.
We already bring this inheritance when we announce that more than a million entries have occurred to the playll. I would like to thank La28 and the International Olympic Committee for allowing these programs to host the biggest games for their continuing work. ”
The cricket Olympic return is not only a nod to tradition, but a bold step towards the future – demonstration of sport that mixes heritage with modern taste, now ready to re -capture the imagination of the global audience.
