In an effort to educate the masses about the importance of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), Chirayu Hospital observed a CPR awareness week in educational institutions and public places in Kalaburagi town from October 13 to October 17.
Manjunath Doshetty, medical director of Chirayu Hospital, and cardiologist Irranna Hirapur said at a press conference in Kalaburagi on Friday that CPR is an important technique that can help save lives in emergencies such as cardiac arrest.
Dr. Hirapur expressed concern over the increasing cases of sudden cardiac arrest and attributed the poor survival rate associated with cardiac arrests to delays in performing CPR. Explaining the procedure, the cardiologist said the CPR technique helps keep blood flow active until trained medical personnel can reach the patient.
