The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) has reprimanded its Mannarkkad regional secretary NK Narayanan and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district secretary KC Riyasudheen for allegedly making sexist remarks following the expulsion of dissident leader PK Sasi from the party.
Mr. Narayanan said that women from respectable families can now come to Mannarkkad area committee office after Mr. Sasi’s expulsion. Mr. Riyasudheen said in a FB post that the CPI(M) office is a center of immoral activities for Mr. Sasi. The party has reportedly asked Mr. Riyasudheen to withdraw his post.
The CPI(M) issued the restriction at a meeting attended by party central committee member KS Saleekha and district secretary EN Suresh Babu.
The CPI(M) district leadership said that the statements made by both Mr. Narayanan and Mr. Riyasudheen had brought the party into disrepute and could not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Earlier, the All India Democratic Women’s Association and some other party units had opposed the duo’s statements.
