Communist Party of India (CPI) veteran R. Nallakannu has been hospitalized at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) in Chennai. His condition is currently said to be stable.
Mr Nallakannu, who turned 101 in December 2025, was admitted on Sunday (February 1, 2026) evening after several bouts of vomiting. A senior hospital official said the admission was done out of an abundance of caution given his age. He is undergoing tests on his cardiac, nephrological and respiratory systems at the hospital and is currently doing well, the official said.
