CPI seeks waiver of TIDCO housing loans for Dabbanda beneficiaries

The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government waive bank loans availed by beneficiaries of TIDCO houses in Dabbanda village, alleging that poor families are under severe financial pressure due to loan repayments and inadequate infrastructure.

The rally was held from Jagadamba Junction to the Collectorate where CPI District Secretary Sheikh Rahiman and Dabbanda TIDCO Welfare Society President Bhanu Pradeep addressed the protest.

They alleged that the beneficiaries paid deposits of ₹50,000 in two installments under the TIDCO housing scheme and later had to mortgage their allotted houses for bank loans. They claimed that the beneficiaries have already paid nearly ₹90,000 through EMIs and are facing recovery requests from the banks.

Leaders also claimed that basic amenities, including schools, parks, a basic health centre, public transport and basic shops, promised at the time of allotment were not provided.

The memorandum was submitted to the district finance officer who, according to the organizers, assured them that the complaints would be looked into. The protesters also demanded RTC bus service to Dabbanda.
