A round table organized by the district committee of the CPI (M) in Khammam on Wednesday decided to hold a protest (Deeksha) in the city on November 25 to press for the immediate arrest of the assailants who stabbed party leader Samineni Rama Rao to death last month.
The round table was attended by leaders of various political parties including CPI, BRS and CPI (ML) Mass Line, excluding Congress and BJP.
It further decided to organize a phased agitation demanding an expedited investigation to bring Rama Rao’s killers to justice.
CPI (M) state secretariat member P. Sudarshan Rao, addressing the round table, termed the killing of Rama Rao, a former member of the united CPI (M) Andhra Pradesh state committee, in his native village Patharlapadu in Khammam district on 31 October 2025 as a “political murder”.
“It was unanimously decided to hold a ‘Deeksha’ in Khammam on November 25 to protest the delay in arresting the attackers even 20 days after the gruesome murder of Comrade Rama Rao,” he added.
BRS Khammam district president Tata Madhusudhan, former MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, CPI district secretary D. Suresh and CPI (ML) Mass Line district secretary G. Venkateshwarlu were among those who attended the round table.
