The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday condemned the attack on its leaders by alleged RSS activists during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and demanded action against those responsible.

Reacting to the protest organized near the Gandhi statue in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), CPI District Secretary Sheikh Rahiman said that CPI National Secretary Annie Raja and other party leaders were attacked while supporting the demonstration over the NEET paper leak issue.

He demanded that cases be registered against those involved and slammed the BJP-led Center for allegedly suppressing democratic rights. Several CPI leaders and activists including Attili Vimala, M. Paidiraju and P. Chandrasekhar participated in the protest.
