After a gradual increase in COVID-19 cases, the Karnataka government increased preventive measures, including targeted testing, Dinesh Gunda Rao said on Sunday.
With nine new cases reported over the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases in Karnataka increased to 47 on Sunday. With the exception of one patient who was hospitalized, everyone else is treated at home.
Mr. Rao, who repeated on Sunday that there is no need to panic at this stage, he said that although the variant in circulation is highly portable, it is unknown that it causes serious infection.
Given that schools and universities will soon be reopened, the Minister stressed that the current situation does not guarantee any concerns or restrictions. “Officials and experts are constantly monitoring and, if necessary, decisions on other measures will be taken on the basis of a situation after consultation with the central government,” he said.
Media watching after the death of an 84 -year -old man who tested the virus positively and had a few co -morbid, said the Minister: “We asked for an audit of death. Failure.”
The Minister is favored that testing is preferred for high-risk categories, especially among older people and children with symptoms of serious acute respiratory infections (Sari) and influenza-similar illnesses (Ili), and said that test kits would achieve sufficient more than a month of government facilities per day or two.
Preparations were carried out for testing in 10 laboratories in the State, including Nimhans, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute and the National Institute of Virology in Bengalur, added.
