
As soon as the autumn season begins, Covid-19 cases are rising throughout the United States, driven by a highly contagious variant of “stratus” XFG.
According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Viral Activity of COVID-19 is in wastewater at a “mild” level. However, 19 states report a “high” or “very high” level, including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Utah, Nevada and North Carolina. Other states with growing activities include Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Washington.
Wastewater data shows that the stratus option now represents most of us Covid-19, making it a dominant tribe at a nationwide level. He first found out in the US in March, XFG quickly overtaken the previously dominant variant of NB.1.8.1 (“Nimbus”).

The XFG “stratus” variant is a complicated hybrid of two omicron subvariants, LF.7 and LP.8.1.2, giving it a genetic advantage in spreading and avoiding immunity. According to the World Health Organization, the option is not expected to cause more serious diseases than previous tribes.

The FDA approved the updated 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine focused on LP.8.1 for high-risk individuals over 65 years or with basic health conditions. Pediatric and obstetric groups also recommend vaccination for children and pregnant or nursing women.
