Special Court for SPE and ACB, Kurnool, sentenced to inspector (Si) B. Peddaiah of Mahila Police Station, Curnool, in the case of bribery in 2015.
According to a press release, the police officer was found guilty of demanding and accepting 1 Lakh from the complainant of N. Manga Raju of Visakhapatnam to prevent the arrest and dilution of the accusation in the event of harassment of the dowry. The court sentenced him to seven years of strict imprisonment and imposed fines of 2.5 ₹ Lakh. Of this, 2 lakh will be paid as a compensation to the complainant. The sentences will take place in parallel.
