A video of an elephant, identified as Mangalakunnu Ganeshan, is visibly trying to walk for injuries, emerged criticism of activists in the field of good living conditions of animals and the public.
Despite deep wounds on his body and visibly injured leg, the elephant was brought from Palakkad and came within the temple festivities that began on Sunday. The animal was visible as it limp and in obvious pain during the parade.
After the problem was reported in the media, the Temple Management Committee convened an urgent meeting on Monday morning and decided to send the elephant back immediately. “We noticed the status of the elephant and decided to exclude it from further participation in the festival,” Temple officials said.
Organizations of good animal life conditions demanded strict steps against the owner of an elephant and called for strong regulatory supervision to prevent such cruelty.
