A counselor from the Women and Child Development Department has been suspended after allegations surfaced that she psychologically harassed survivors while counseling the Palathaya POCSO case. The suit follows a complaint filed by Dhisha Kerala secretary Dinu Veyil, who is seeking legal action against three mental health professionals criticized by the court.
According to the complaint, counselors allegedly tried to break the child psychologically during counseling. Mr. Dinu said on Facebook that the government must immediately initiate preliminary action against the other two officials. A separate complaint seeking criminal action against the official has been submitted to the DGP and is now being examined by the Kannur City Police Commissioner.
The court made serious allegations against those who advised the deceased at sentencing. The court made it clear that counselors who seek to harm a child psychologically should not be allowed to continue in the profession.
The case relates to the 2020 sexual abuse of a Class IV girl in which former Thrippangottur panchayat president and school teacher K. Padmarajan was sentenced to 40 years in prison on 15 November.
