Councilor Sugathan’s brother arrested for allegedly trespassing into the house of a witness to a murder case

Vanchiyoor police arrested Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councilor Sandeep’s brother and KAAPA charged R. Sugathan late on Wednesday (September 23) for allegedly breaking into the residence of a witness in the 2008 Mannanthala murder case of RSS worker Ranjith.

According to the police, Sandeep allegedly broke into the house of a witness, who is also a BJP worker, and recently caused a disturbance. The police subsequently registered the case based on a tip-off about the incident.

While local BJP workers blamed the incident on the CPI(M) and were preparing to stage protests in the area, the investigation team was examining the CCTV footage which allegedly proved that Sandeep was the alleged culprit in the case.

Police sources said the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The incident comes as the trial in the Renjith murder case is nearing its end. The court should issue a verdict within a week.
