Congress candidate for the West Graduates constituency, Mohan Limbikai, has urged eligible graduates to register as the third round of voter registration is currently underway.
Addressing the press in Hubballi on February 9, Mr. Limbikai said several applications were rejected due to incomplete details and documentation issues.
He urged the officials to ensure that the addresses and contact numbers of the applicants are listed in the list of rejected applications so that party workers can easily contact them and take remedial action.
The congressional candidate also pointed out that many of the women’s applications were rejected due to name and address changes after marriage. He advised applicants to submit the required documents, including Form 18, voter ID card, diploma or convocation certificate, or mark cards for the last three years, along with relevant marriage documents such as affidavit, registration certificate or invitation, duly attested by a clerk.
Mr Limbikai expressed dismay at the nearly 8,000 votes rejected in the previous elections due to incorrect voting and explained how to vote in the right way, saying an awareness campaign would be organized in this regard.
Lingaraj Angadi, president of the Dharward Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat, and others emphasized the need to extend Mr. Limbikai’s support in view of his previous experience in public life.
Shakir Sanadi, chairman, Hubballi Dharward Urban Development Authority, and Congress leaders Anilkumar Patil, Altaf Hallur and Y. Syed Ahmed were present
