Mohammed Kaif killed the Bcci decision to change Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Indian ODI team. Rohit has been replaced as a captain of the ODI party When SHUBMAN GILL was given a team of reins on Saturday 4th October. Rohit led India in 56 ODIS and won 42 and helped India to win ICC Champions Trophy at the beginning of the year.
When Kaif spoke in a video released on his X account, he asked if Rohit could not be given for another year despite his performance in ICC events. The former cricket said Rohit had taught a lot of things, but eventually was removed as a party captain.
“Rohit Sharma gave India for 16 years, but we couldn’t give him one. As a captain won 15 out of 16 ICC events, lost one match, the finals of 2023. The champion trophies were the last match of 2025, he was a player’s player and won the trophy.
“In India, there is an example that if your time is there, you should continue, but Rohit did not do it. Many players taught everything, but we removed it from the World Cup 2027 for one year.”
Why plunge into everything?
Kaif said that while Gill was young and could become a good captain, there was no need to rush to change. The former cricket said Gill’s time would come at the right time and it was a moment when Rohit continued.
“The captain who won us two ICC trophies in eight months will now be replaced by SHUBMAN GILL. GILL is young and new and can be a good captain, but why rush to everything? Why fly?
