Work to repair damage caused by 243 schools in Dakshina Kannada due to heavy rains in 2024 were completed because schools re -opened the new academic year from May 29.
Deputy Director of Public Teaching Dakshin Kannada (DDPI), Rajalakshmi, said the state government issued a total of 4.56 CRORE 4.56 GBP in two phases. “The dusting work was completed in all 243 schools that suffered damage last year,” she said.
According to statistics provided by the Dakshin Kannada DDPI, a maximum of 1.34 Crore 1.34 GBP was sanctioned for repairs in 67 Belhangada Taluk schools. Up to 1.08 GBP crore was released for 54 schools in Sullia Taluk; 73 Lakh for 40 schools in Bantwal Taluk; 53.7 Lakh for 33 schools in Puttur Taluk; and 36.4 lakh for 23 schools in Kadaba Taluk.
The government released 18 lakh repairs in nine schools in Ullal Taluk, £ 14 for seven schools in Mangaluru Taluk, 12 lakh for six schools in Mululy Taluk and £ 7 for four schools in Moodbidri Taluk.
Mrs. Rajalakshmi said that this year the government was sent a proposal looking for 15.17 GBP Crore for repairs at 334 schools, which includes 39 schools that have still suffered damage in May.
Built more classrooms
Other classrooms were built by the engineering department of Panchayat Raj in 252 of the 312 schools, for which the government released 6.97 crore for 2024-25, the official said.
