The Madras High Court impressed the need for Tamil Nad’s government to repair the timeline to announce a new list of elephants in the state. Until July 25, 2025, she also demanded a state report, which made progress in this respect.
The Bench of the Special Division of Justices N. Sathish Kumar and D. Bharatha Chakravarthy went through orders for a dose of cases related to the forest in front of her. Amici Curiae T. Mohan, Chevanan Mohan, Rahul Balaji and M. Santhamanan help the court in all these cases.
In September 2023, the main main conservator of the forest-cum-chords of wild animals revealed a field study of the Corridor Elephant Identification Committee, which brought on bright preliminary information on the existence of 36 corridors in Tamil Nadu.
Since they have escaped for almost two years since then, the judges wanted a certain timeline to design strategies for consolidation and to receive funding for the reconstruction of the corridor and instructions for ensuring public cooperation to avoid negative interactions with humans-aphan.
Submission of a report on compliance with regulations concerning a number of other instructions issued by a bench on January 10, 2025; Coimbatore Collector G. Pavankumar said that the necessary steps were taken to implement the direction to install supervisory cameras to avoid illegal mining around forest areas in the district.
The private agency submitted a detailed report on the project to install supervisory cameras with allowed artificial intelligence at the price of 1.83 GBP and the proposal was handed over to the Commissioner for Geology and Mining 12 March 2025 for the penalty of funds, the collector said.
The court was also informed that 270 cases of illegal mining were identified and a fine of 26.76 crore was imposed in 100 cases. The rest of the cases were asked by an official of the Jurisdiction Division and the negotiations would be accepted as soon as the investigation was closed.
The divisional bench was also informed about the measures taken so far against the government and police officials for justifying the obligation and involvement of a private agency in the creation of mobile applications and the Internet portal for storing complaints related to illegal mining.
After the judges decided to log in the collector’s message, they decided to add additional commands to this matter on July 25.
