The post of social media of the former MLA A. Pradeep Kumar launched a dialogue on the need to preserve the beauty of public spaces in Kozhikode on Sunday (May 11). Kozhikode Corporation has immediately expanded to the event and the public space was cleaned by the end of Monday (12 May).
The bus stop at the Medical College junction in the city was a beautifully designed structure, created by well -known architects and built at a price of around 3 to 4 ₹ Lakh almost five years ago, when Mr. Pradeep Mla Kozhikode North was. The twins of lateral stone structures with tiled roofs, reminiscent of Keral’s traditional buildings and beautiful paintings on both sides were once a source of civil pride. Local Authorickshaw drivers even promised to protect it.
However, the post of social media of the former MLA shocked a lot because the accompanying pictures showed that the bus stop was decorated. Even the paintings were covered with posters. “Certainly, some people who did not tie themselves to society did. Even plants in the meeting boxes have been uprooted,” the post read.
“De Earth”, an architectural company that proposed the structure promised to restore the bus stop to its earlier fame as part of its celebrations of the 21st anniversary, on condition that the authorities provide its protection in the future. “It is essential that we learn to protect our public spaces. We need the public to be proactive in these things,” Mr. Pradeep said.
