Cooperating fully with Probe: Mohammad Rizwan to investigate PCB leaks
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan said he is fully cooperating with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) investigation into the locker room leaks during the England tour. Rizwan said he would speak publicly on the matter once the investigation was complete.
Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were reportedly interrogated by the NCCIA in Lahore due to an alleged leak from the team dressing room during the Test series against England. The pair were questioned for nearly four hours after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approached the cybercrime agency with a complaint, according to PTI.
As part of the investigation, the Pakistan team’s security manager reportedly submitted the cell phones of Rizwan and the imam to the NCCIA for examination.
Speaking to Samaa TV, Rizwan said he was waiting for the investigation to be completed before taking any further action.
“I am fully cooperating with the investigation,” Rizwan said. “I am awaiting the completion of the investigation.
The investigation comes at a turbulent time for Pakistan cricket, which has dealt with a number of disciplinary issues. After the Lord’s test, seven players, including Rizwan and Imamwere recalled from England along with Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul.
The move was part of a wider disciplinary shake-up within Pakistan’s set-up, with the PCB taking action amid concerns over conduct during the England series.
Pakistan eventually lost the series 0–3 and suffered a major setback to their World Cup hopes. Rizwan had a disappointing Test series in England, managing just 61 runs from his four innings in the opening two matches.
Meanwhile, Imam scored 42 in the first Test but was unable to contribute with the bat in the second match after being ruled out by a calf injury. However, some reports stated that the imam may have faked an injury at Lord’s.
