Nagarhole Tiger reserve is cooked, because forest department and tribes deal with a tense distance regarding the rights to land, forced eviction and a dispute on the implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA).
The trigger for the current distance is the entry of about 150 tribes from nearby villages to their ancestors on Monday to push through its rights to forests and the construction of a sacred altar for their deities.
On Tuesday, however, officials of forest ministry, employees and police reached their seats and thwart their attempts that escalated the fervent dissatisfaction between the tribes about their violent eviction decades ago and the inability to recognize their claims within the FRA, although they provided documents.
According to Pranab Doy, the leader of community networks against protected areas, the leaders of the yamuch from Karadicall argued with officials to emphasize that they had been waiting for the documents for three months, and that is the forest department that exceeded the period of announcements in which the rights should be settled.
Sources stated that such attempts to violently enter the tiger reservation to promote rights would be perceived as interventions, as the claims must still be recognized.
However, the tribes claimed that their constitutional rights were ignored. “FRA does not provide new rights – it confirms our existing one. This is our home,” said Ja Shaiv, President of the Forest Rights Committee in Karadicall and leader Nagarhole Adivasi Jammapale Hakka Sthapana Samiti.
Srreekanth of development said through education that the trunks do not outsmart the structure of the RCC, but an altar made of materials such as wood, etc. to worship the deity. Thus, the forest ministry action was condemnable because it meant that he injured religious feelings of tribes.
He said that despite the recent teaching of the main Minister Siddaramaiaha during his visit to Hamlets in HD Kote, the tribes should not be disturbed, the cruelty of the authorities still without change.
Activists demanded review of strains rejected by forest department and timely recognition of their rights. Mr Sreekanth said that if the matter is allowed to escalate without a peaceful solution, it would reflect the main minister Siddaraiaha, because his directives are promoted by officials.
