A cook from Bihar working at a hotel in Sagar in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district was allegedly murdered by the owner and others on April 2.
The deceased was identified as Tinku, 33, a native of Baliyari village in Bihar. He worked as a cook at Rooftop Cafe and Games Zone on Shivamogga Road in Sagar.
Mohammed Imran, the owner of the hotel, allegedly assaulted Tinka and his 17-year-old relative, who worked as a cleaner at the hotel, on the night of April 1 after he accused the pair of stealing money from the hotel. Tinku lost consciousness after the attack.
Superintendent of Police Shivamogga B. Nikhil, who visited Sagar after the incident, told the media that the accused loaded Tinka into the car and drove around town, unsure of what to do next. “By the morning of April 2, our personnel got information about the incident. Apart from arresting Imran, they recovered the car and the body. We are investigating who else was involved in the crime,” the officer said.
The Sagar Town police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Tink’s relative. He named Mohammed Imran and four others as accused.
