On Monday, the contracting staff referred to the district collectors to secure the corresponding bus services to the Kudankulam nuclear power plant (KKNPP).
In their petition, the contractual workers submitted to the collectors that construction work of units III on VI was carried out by various organizations. More than 20,000 contracting workers were involved on these pages. Of these, about 3,000 workers traveled to the project from the Kanniyakumari district, while a large number of workers from other districts and states lived in Anajibogram and other close areas.
Only a few companies organized transport for workers. The rest of the workers depend on public transport. Currently, there are only four buses between Vadasers and Tircheundur and Thoothuku. In addition, the city bus from Vadasery leaves at 8.15 hours and leads a longer path to reach the race.
This limited service caused workers who were forced to get on crowded buses at peak hours or arrive late to work, which influenced their income.
S. Thiruganasambandhar, a contracting worker, said that this problem was warned by the district administration because many workers lost their wages because it appeared late to work. “Most contractual employees earn 15,000 GBP a month, and those who commute from NerCCOil and other two -round regions are spent on traveling,” he said.
Since many migrant workers lived in the Anjugram area and for local residents from other parts of the district, Mr. Thirugignasambandhar urged the district administration to organize the corresponding bus facility in the NerCOil and Anjulogram race at least during the morning and evening hours.
