Association of Contract Teachers and Universities Joint Action Committee of Contract Teachers held a roundtable here on Saturday to demand job security
Apart from participants from 12 state universities, the members included academic activist G. Haragopal, former MLC M. Kodandaram, State Education Commission member PL Vishweshwar Rao, Telangana Grandhalaya Parishad chairman Riyaz and Tribal Finance Corporation chairman Bellaiah Naik.
According to the associations, there are about 1,200 contractual teachers in various universities with more than two decades of service but no job security.
Mr. Vishweshwar Rao said that the issues themselves have been noted by the SEC and submitted to the State Government in a comprehensive report. Mr. Riyaz and Mr. Naik also assured that the concerns would be escalated to the government level.
Noting the persistent demand of contractual teachers, Justice (Retd) B. Sudershan Reddy shared his message over phone.
At the event, the members of the association released a pamphlet in which they set out their demands supported by various judgments.
