The routine metro ride became tense for Vinay Kumar, an Indianagar resident, when he had a narrow escape from a suspicious attempt at a handkerchief at Metro Central College. He said the incident occurred when he and his wife were waiting for the train. “We noticed that a man was suspiciously lurking behind me. When we moved to another door designation, he followed us again,” Hindu said.
Reducing something was wrong, the couple quickly switched the position when the train arrived and caught the suspect out of sight. “We ran to the last door. The man didn’t follow us there because it would be too obvious,” he added. “The coaches are now crowded and there are no security staff nearby to which they would complain,” he said.
Two young people arrested
Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials said that the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force deployed to control the crowd during the IPL match at the Chinnaswamy stadium detained two young people who were found with seven stolen mobile phones, recently at Cubbon Park Metro. One of them was a minor and both were handed over to the police Cubbon Park.
In a similar incident, the attempt to steal was thwarted at the NadapraBhu KEVEGOWDA (Majestic) metro station. According to BMRCL officials, a man was identified as Ganesh caught while trying to steal a cell phone from a commuting pocket as they boarded a 1st. The accused was handed over to the Police UPPApet by the Police by the Metro Security Team with the help of the Hoysal patrol unit, the officials added.
“Such incidents rare”
However, BMRCL manager downplayed these concerns and said the incidents of the pockets in the Bengalur metro network remain rare.
