The consulates of Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Australia, Italy and Germany gathered early on Sunday to mark the fourth annual Tour de Tech, a cycling initiative that underscores their shared commitment to sustainability, technology and international cooperation.
Held annually before the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS), the event has developed into a tradition that brings together diplomats, industry leaders and members of Bengaluru’s innovation ecosystem outside of formal conference spaces. The goal of the ride is to highlight the role of cycling in creating a healthier and more livable urban environment.
The representatives of the participating countries noted that cycling is an integral part of the urban environment and symbolizes values such as sustainable urban planning, climate-conscious living and the belief that small, everyday decisions can strengthen environmental responsibility. The tour, they said, reflects how a simple activity like cycling can bridge tradition and modernity while promoting cleaner, more connected communities.
In a joint statement, the consulates described the initiative as “more than driving” and called it a collective commitment to cleaner, active and sustainable modes of mobility. They emphasized that the event celebrates innovation and partnership while strengthening shared responsibility for addressing climate challenges.
Through the Tour de Tech, the consulates and participating riders also reaffirm their intention to deepen cooperation, encourage people-to-people engagement and promote solutions that reduce the carbon footprint.
