Following on from BJP’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, He urged Bangladesh to consider a long-term Teesta water-sharing agreement under the “current circumstances”. Outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seen for a long time as an obstacle to efforts to resolve the Teesta waters dispute between India and Bangladesh.

In case of any further “push” from the Indian side, he said, Bangladesh would take “any necessary measures”.
