The Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) vision document for cluster mangalur, which includes Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kodag districts, stressed that underwater cable connectivity will be a critical enabler to strengthen the position of the global data center.
Direct input stations and underwater cable routes provide low latency, high -capacity international bandwidth, which makes it competitive worldwide for hyperscalers, cloud providers and AI -controlled companies, said the document.
Cable route options
The document proposed three options of the cable route. Referring to the first option, she said that the Middle East and Europe route (Oman/UAE → Mangalurur → further to Chennai/Singapore) will provide a direct low latent way from West Asia and Europe and bypasses the overloaded entrance station in Mumbai.
The second option is the extension route of Southeast Asia (Singapore → Colombo → Mangalurur → further to the Middle East/Africa), which will provide a deposit of Bangaluru+1 for hyperscalers, direction of operation to Southeast Asia.
The third option is a regional loop with Kochi and Chennai (Chennai < -> Kochi <--> Mangalur, which is a ground + underwater loop).

Mangaluru to supplement Bengaluru
The document, which focused on the establishment of mangalur as a global data centers of AI, said that KDEM, as part of the Beyond Bengalur initiative, assumes that it is placed mangalura as a strategic center for new generation data centers. Mangalur, using its coastal advantage, developing digital infrastructure, renewable energy and talent base, complements Bengalur as the “Bengaluru+1” position and also serves as a resistant backup point for the GCC worldwide.
Working
The establishment of the Center for Mangalur Data Center is expected to generate more than 25,000 direct and indirect jobs in more sectors, a document issued by Minister for Electronics, Information Technology, Bio-Technology Priyank Kharge in September 24, September, he said.
Employment creation includes 8,000 workplaces in the construction and infrastructure sector (civic work, electric, cooling, logistics); 7,000 jobs in IT/BT and Cloud Services (Operations Data Center, AI Infra Management, Cloud Engineering); 5,000 jobs in operation and maintenance (equipment management, energy systems, security); 3,000 jobs in renewable energy and public services (green energy projects, grid integration, cooling solution); and 2,000 jobs in auxiliary and allied industries (transport, food, services, SME in the ecosystem of the data center).
GIGA scale center
The 54 -page document stated that the mangalura is assumed as a Giga data center, while the planned capacity in the next decade exceeds 1 GW.
“The strategy of the chip” provides the integration of renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro) with advanced cooling, high -density and optimization calculations at the AI and cloud workload, “he said.
