Hundreds of Congress workers clashed with police on Thursday when they were prevented from marching towards the BJP state headquarters during a protest against the NEET-UG exam paper leak.

Led by State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra, party workers demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the dissolution of the National Testing Agency.

They carried placards, banners and placards and raised slogans like “NEET paper kahan milega? BJP ke baade mein. (Where will you find NEET paper? In BJP’s backyard)”.

When the police tried to stop the protesters in the Martyrs’ Memorial area near the police station, they climbed over the barricades. Shahpura MLA Manish Yadav was among those forcibly thrown from the barricades by the police.

Minor injuries

Former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas sitting on the road while former MLA Ved Prakash Solanki was pushed by police personnel. Congress workers carried Mr. Dotasra on their shoulders as the police dispersed them with water cannons. Some protesters suffered minor injuries.

Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Jully said that when the paper leak was first revealed in Rajasthan, the state government “deliberately delayed” the registration of even a single FIR.
