Focusing on the Narendra Modi government on the treatment of the flood situation in the northeast, especially Assam, the President of the Mallikarjun Kharge congress on Monday (June 2, 2025), called on the center to release more funds in the northeast countries.
In a social media post, Mr. Kharge said he hoped Mr. Modi would open the floods of his PM Cares fund. He also remembered the promise of BJP that Assam without floods.
“In 2016, BJP promised to create a” free “Assam. In 2022, Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah repeated this promise. Looking at the visuals from the so -called” ” Smart City “Guwahati is reminded of how Modi and his government of the double engine betrayed Assam,” said Mr. Kharge in post X.
He noted that Assam, Arunacal, Manipur, Sikkim and Meghalaya were among the worst states where many lives were lost and people were affected. He called on the leaders and staff of their parties to give people help.
“Dumsting, distraction and turning from basic developmental issues to emotional and polarization objects was a characteristic feature of BJP policy. Modi Govt must release more funds to all countries, especially Assam for flood readiness,” Kharge said.
“Maybe Modi could open it to Foundgates of PM Cares, of which Crores lies without a public audit,” added the head of the Congress kicking with the Prime Minister.
The former head of the Party and the opposition leader at Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in X Post said that the report of loss of life due to heavy rains in the northeastern states, especially Assam and Arunacal Pradesh, was extremely sad.
“Because of this tragedy, the situation in Guwahati is extremely worrying – life has been completely disturbed. I recall central and state governments to speed up relief and rescue and provide immediate assistance to everyone in need,” Gandhi said, at the same time urging his colleagues to provide all possible assistance at work.
Several people died during the floods in Assam, and more than four more than four Lakhi people were affected in more than 20 districts, with seven main rivers in Spate.
The flood situation in the northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Sikkim and Arunacal Pradesh was grim after heavy rainfall in several parts.
