Congress President Charandas Mahant on Friday (December 12, 2025) announced that the party’s legislators will boycott the inaugural day proceedings of the upcoming winter session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
Mr Mahant, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the 90-member House, said the boycott was in protest against the government’s move to discuss Vision 2047, the state’s own plan to contribute to the central government’s vision to transform the country into a developed economy by 2047.
“In the Assembly on December 14 (December, the opening day of the four-day session), there will be no question-and-answer session, no cautionary motion or adjournment. And only Vision 2047 will be discussed. With that in mind, I have made a decision. I am telling my colleagues before you that we will boycott the 4th session of Congress completely after the Assembly meets.
Terming the Vision document as a lie that offered only dreams, he said there was nothing in it that would provide any benefit to the poor, farmers, unemployed, youth, farmers who do not get tokens to sell their produce or the environment and ecology of Chhattisgarh.
When asked about the Congress’s decision to boycott the proceedings, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the party was taking such decisions because it was frustrated after a series of electoral losses in the state.
