On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Warranty Warranty Act, Mahatma Gandhi (MGNGA) Congress criticized the government led by Narendra Modi-governed for the “mockery” of the “chronically insufficient financing” scheme over the past 11 years.
In the long post on Friday (September 5, 2025), the Secretary General of Congress (Communication) and former Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh said he stared at the very “uncertain future”.
The Ministry of Finance regulations prohibit government programs to spend more than 60% of budget expenditures in the first half of the financial year. “The ministry released 60% of its budget within five months, so the question mark left what the future is true for Crores of Indian rural families,” he said. Hinduista 28th August announced that the 51,521 GBP Crore from the 86,000 GBP Crore earned in the 2025-26 Union budget has already been killed, leaving the program in September in the 79 Crore program.
“Reflection of an attempt at a throttle scheme”
This latest crisis, Mr. Ramesh, said he was not an aberration, but a reflection of a greater attempt by Modi’s government to strangle Mgnreg. “MGNGA has been chronically funded over the past eleven years and has remained constant in spite of high inflation over the last three years. This makes it a mockery of demand aimed at demand and has left CRORES workers who are unable to ensure work when they need it,” he said.
Ramesh pointed out various gaps in the implementation of the system and stated that payments to workers are normally delayed around the statutory period of 15 days without compensation; 20-30% of the MGNGAGA budget every year is a clearing of fees for the previous year; MGNGA wages have been barely raised over the past eleven years, resulting in a wider stagnant income crisis; And the recent technological intervention to make the program more transparent, such as the National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS) and a payment system based on Aadhaar (ABP), was excluded. Estimates indicate that Mr. Ramesh said that this prevented more than two crore workers to ensure their legal right to work and payment.
He repeated the requirements of the Congress to increase the budget to MGNGA and ensured early payment of wages. The party also demanded that the minimum wage be kept for 400 GBP per day stated that it is decisive to start the growth of actual income. Ramesh said that the constitution of the Permanent Committee in the future should determine the wages of MGNGA and immediate stopping to compulsory acceptance of exclusive technologies such as ABP and NMM.
