The Congress on Friday (July 10, 2026) stepped up its attack on the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, sending several senior leaders across the country for press conferences.
Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera addressed a press conference in Jammu, while Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda spoke to presspersons in Lucknow. All India Congress Committee Research Head Rajeev Gowda addressed the media in Chennai while party social media Supriya Shrinate raised the issue in Punjab. Senior leader Shaktisinh Gohil held a press conference in Haryana.
In Uttarakhand, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the alleged theft of offerings and donations at the Ram temple and demanded a Supreme Court probe into the matter.
He said the BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have been collecting donations in the name of Ram Mandir for several years and the trust body has misappropriated this money, gold and other offerings.
“I have only one question: who is responsible for the theft of donations? The Ram Temple Trust was created under the supervision of the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi). Why is he silent on this issue?” Mr. Venugopal said and demanded a Supreme Court-supervised probe.
He added that the Congress party would raise the matter prominently in the monsoon session of Parliament.
Mr. Venugopal was in the hill state to assess the party’s preparedness for the assembly elections scheduled for early next year in Uttarakhand.
