The opposition alliance led by Congress in Assam hit turbulence from two -phase Panchayat surveys in May.
The alliance created before the 2021 public opinion surveys showed signs of fragility during Lok Sabha 2024 surveys. The differences became public after Mla Akhil Gogoi, President Raijor gave, accused some of the leaders of the Congress of the conspiracy to leave the side of Bharatiya Janat (BJP), specifically in the East Assam district of Sivasagar.
Mr. Akhil Gogoi represents the SIVASAGAR election district and Raijor gave them one of the 16 components of the Assam opposition forums. The left front is one of the voters.
“Congress crossed the boundaries of betrayal by hiring candidates for all six Zilla Parisads in Sivasagar instead of helping us in the true spirit of the Alliance. We insisted that the attack independently and not as a unit would be suicidal when the ruling parties (BJP and its allies) have better coordination.
He was also accused by Congress’s deputy Jorhat Gaurav Gogoi and leader of the legislative party of Congress Debabrat Saikius, who represents the Nazira constituency, plans to let BJP sweeping public opinion surveys because of the leadership of the Great Old Party.
Sivasagar and Nazira are Jorhat Lok Sabha’s seats.
“Congress’s management told me that a deputy wants to sabotage the alliance because the President of the State Congress Bhupen Kumar Borah is standing if we are doing well,” President Raijor gave and threatened candidate for Nazira’s seat in state surveys 2026.
“It is said that Debabrat Saikia has forgotten how our staff helped him win surveys of the assembly 2021,” he said, adding that Jorhat MP was similarly ungrateful for Raijor gave.
“We cannot constantly tolerate back sending. I am under huge pressure from the workers of our parties to stand up,” he said.
“No certificate is required”
Mr. Borah responded by lamenting attempts to weaken the alliance. “We tried to seriously strengthen the alliance of the anti-BJP, but the atmosphere of camaraderie is stressed,” he said.
“Akhil Gogoi said that two of our leaders are BJP agents. We do not want a certificate of our loyalty to our party from anyone behind him,” he said.
On April 18, it was decided on the last date to select Nominations for Panchayat surveys, 348 seats were undisputed. The NDA led by BJP secured 325, followed by independent at 15, Nine Congress and All India United Democratic Front in one.
