Congress leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Gouda and many ministers intensified campaigning in the Jubilee Hills constituency on Tuesday.
As part of the campaign, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka made an extensive visit to Moosapet in support of Congress candidate Naveen Yadav. Interacting with fruit traders, he inquired about local issues and assured the residents that the government was committed to the development of the constituency.
At a minority meeting in Yousufguda, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress is the only party that promotes secular values ”from Delhi to Gulli” and is best placed to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana as well as at the national level. He criticized regional parties, including the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), saying they had weakened the secular space and helped the rise of the BJP by dividing votes.
Mr. Reddy said the BRS would face the same political decline as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which he recalled had paid a price for its alliances of convenience.
In Rahmat Nagar, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy expressed confidence that the Congress would win the polls with a substantial majority. Meanwhile, members of the Om Nagar Church Committee and leaders from other parties joined the Congress.
He said the development and welfare measures taken in the last 23 months under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had boosted public support. He questioned the record of BRS in the constituency and said the previous government had not issued a single new ration card in a decade, while the Congress government had issued 14,000 new ration cards in the last 22 months and added about 8,000 names to the existing cards.
