Congress leader Mangalam Gopinath passed away

Veteran Congress leader and socio-cultural activist Mangalam Gopinath (88) passed away at a Manjeri hospital on Sunday evening after battling cancer for several months.

A former member of the All India Congress Committee and the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, Gopinath was the editor of Al Ameen and Malabar Today newspapers.

Apart from his political activities, Gopinath was in the news for compiling all the Congress election manifestos since the 1937 Indian provincial elections.

He is survived by his wife M. Rugmini, son MG Suresh Kumar and daughter MG Sunanda. His funeral will be held at Vettekkod on Monday at 2 pm.
