The Indian Election Commission recognized the Congress of Keral as the side of the state and assigned him the symbol of Authorickshaw.
Party and MLA PJ Joseph confirmed that recognition came as a result of the performance of the party in the recent elections of Lok Sabha. The Kerala Congress, a key ally of the united democratic front led by Congress (UDF), worked without an official symbol after the Indian election commission granted the symbol of the “two sheets” of the fraction of Jose K. Manied Keral Congress (M).
In previous surveys Lok Sabha, the candidate of the KERAL K. Francis George attacked from Kottayam using the symbol of Autorickshaw and won. After this success, the party decided to accept the symbol as its own.
The dispute over the official symbol of the party dates back to the election elections in September 2019. It was caused by the death of the veteran legislator and chairman of KC (m) km Mani, the secondary elections led to the main rupture within the party and divided it into factions led by Jose K. Mani and PJ Josef. During the vote, Mr. Joseph refused to assign the symbol of Jose Tom Pulikkunnel, the candidate of the Mani group. As a result, Mr. Pulikkunnel had to compete as independent of UDF, with a symbol of “pineapple”.
The dispute of the symbol was taken to the Indian Election Commission and pulled with a legal battle before it was finally resolved in favor of the current arrangement.
