After US President Donald Trump announced 25%T tariff to India, Congress on Thursday (July 31, 2025) overwhelmed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he once talked about the peak (tomatoes, onions, potatoes) of the call, but the country now has to compete with political challenges coming from Caps (China, America).
The Secretary General of the Congress responsible for Communication Jairam Ramesh said that President Trump “accumulates it in India.”
In post X, Mr. Ramesh wrote: “Since May 10, he claimed 30 times that he had stopped the Sindoor operation. These statements were made in four different countries.
“On July 30, he imposed a 25% tariff on American imports from India plus a punishment for Indian oil purchases and defense from Russia. In addition, at least six Indian companies were imposed for cooperation with Iran,” he said.
On July 30, Mr. Trump also announced that the US would help Pakistan to explore and develop its oil and gas reserves, Mr. Ramesh said, adding that it was coming to his full support for Pakistan, which receives financial assistance from the World Bank and the International Currency Fund.
“The Prime Minister Modi once spoke about the peak (tomatoes, onions, potatoes) in prices. Now India must face a political challenge that originated from a cap (China, America, Pakistan),” Mr. Ramesh said.
“He (Modi) invested very strongly in his personal friendship with President Trump, as he did with President XI. They both now have a full man-some who can easily be driven by playing his gigantic ego and self-concept,” Congress said.
The notes came the day after the US President announced the imposition of 25% of the tariff on all goods from India from 1 August, plus an unspecified sentence in the country for buying Russian oil and military equipment.
The announcement is considered to be pressure tactics to agree to the new Delhi requirements that have been acquired by favorable trade agreements with main partners such as Japan, the United Kingdom and the European Union in recent days.
In a contribution to the social media, Trump described Indian business policies as “the most powerful and unfavorable”.
“All things that are not good! India will therefore pay 25 percent plus a penalty for the above, starting on the first August,” Mr. Trump wrote.
The punishment was declared because India made large purchases of oil and military equipment from Russia. India is the first country Trump slapped the punishment of Russian imports. Previously, he ordered high tariffs in China, but abstained from choosing any punishment, although Beijing was the largest Russian oil importer.
On Wednesday (July 30, 2025), the opposition parties killed the government for the American imposition of tariffs and sanctions on Indian imports and said that the friendship of President Modi with the US President meant little.
Mr. Ramesh said that Modi should be inspired by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and confront the President of the United States.
