The Congress high command on Friday (October 23, 2026) asked Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to initiate an inquiry into the alleged stabbing attempt.

The top management is also said to have expressed displeasure that Mr. Shivakumar had decided to go public before a formal inquiry was launched, sources told The Hindu.

Speaking to a Kannada television channel, the chief minister claimed that he had recently met a businessman dealing with Meta AI glasses, which he suspected was a “stabbing” attempt.

Mr. Shivakumar said he became suspicious of the glasses. “He was wearing Meta glasses when he met me and Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan. But he was not wearing glasses when he met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.

Mr. Shivakumar also warned his ministers during the Cabinet meeting that some of them might become victims of sting operations.
