Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) called the Congress a “tweet master party” which had no choice but to mislead people.
The Congress is surviving on rhetoric and confrontation, while under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is steadily expanding its footprint, not only in Haryana but also in Punjab and West Bengal, Saini said.
“Congress has no development plan and has reduced itself to reactionary politics. Congress has reduced itself to a ‘tweet-master party’. While Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was presenting the budget, a Congress leader rushed to Twitter (renamed X) in the middle to claim that Haryana got nothing. At least they should have waited for the budget to be about Congress Rahu, which seems to be fully presented under Gandhi Congress. The opposition has no problem at all, it is just trying remain visible without knowing or reading the budget, this is only done to spread confusion,” the BJP leader told a press conference.
Mr. Saini accused the Congress of indulging in irresponsible, half-hearted and misguided policies regarding the Union Budget. “The opposition has neither read nor understood the Budget and is opposing it only for opposition’s sake,” he said. The budget is comprehensive and focused on reforms for the country’s 140 million people, including Haryana’s 2.80 million people, he added. “Our opponents are making baseless allegations without waiting for the complete presentation of the budget,” he said.
During the Congress rule, budgets were limited to “free culture”, while the BJP-led government presents “continuous development-led budgets”. “Budgets presented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government have greatly strengthened infrastructure. Today, every citizen of the country is discussing development. Even in Congress households, women are discussing how the country is developing,” Saini said.
