Congress leaders urged former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to attend the rally and play the role of a responsible opposition leader “rather than spreading fake news on social media platforms”.

The party staged a dharna at Indira Park on Sunday demanding his resignation for not attending the rally. TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said that as per the wish of the people, KCR should play a responsible role as the leader of the opposition and the government is ready to accept his suggestions and correct wrong decisions if any.

Mr. Goud said the Congress government had attracted foreign investment of ₹ 1.78 crore in two years and more jobs would be created during the remaining two-and-a-half years of the government’s tenure. He also highlighted the caste survey and said it is considered a role model for the country.

IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said KCR should attend the rally and the government is “ready to give a befitting reply to any questions you raise in the rally”. He said the government has spent more than ₹1.60 crore on farmers.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said more than 72,000 jobs have been filled and social security contributions for SCs, STs, BCs and minorities have been enhanced. “A government employee who remains absent for 365 days would face prosecution, but the former director is absconding,” he said.

Former MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud and Chamala MPs Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mallu Ravi also criticized the BRS leadership for urging Mr Rao to come to the debate instead of shirking his duties.

The dharna, presided over by Government Counsel V. Hanumantha Rao, was attended by Ministers Mohammed Azharuddin and Vivek Venkataswamy, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav, Mr. Mallu Ravi and Mr. Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, and Labor President T. Jagga Reddy, among other MLAs and MLCs.
