The Secretary General of AICC KC Venugopal said on Sunday (August 10, 2025) that Congress will start a comprehensive audit to reveal alleged discrepancies in the list of voters from Lok Sabha elections.
He said there were 48 constituencies where Indian candidates have lost less than 50,000 votes, and the party would carry out extensive checks in all of them.
In an interview with reporters in Alappuzh, Mr. Venugopal claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “did not take over the office with a real mandate” and claimed that it happened obvious after Rahul Gandhi published “evidence of electoral fraud”.
The Chief Election Officer Karnataka on Thursday (August 7, 2025) asked Mr. Gandhi to share the names of the voters he claimed to have either included or unjustly excluded from the voters’ list, along with signed statements to the election authorities to start the “necessary proceedings”.
Mr. Venugopal claimed that BJP “confiscated power” by manipulating the list of voters in the 2019 elections, claiming that proper investigation could force “modi to resign”. Instead, he accused the election commission of Mr. Gandhi’s “threatening” and congress for raising objections.
However, Mr. Venugopal claimed that ECI had to respond to the marked discrepancies.
“Don’t try to scare us,” he said, adding that Congress would continue his fight. He announced a protest march to the EC office in Nový Delhi 11. August to be led by deputies of the party.
Congress’s leader also claimed that false voters were included in the roles in Kerala, quoting Thrissur and Alappuzha constituents as examples.
