Congress on Sunday (May 3, 2026) demanded an immediate withdrawal April 28 circular issued by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, which is asking Haj pilgrims to make an additional payment by May 15, saying the circular was issued without justification or prior consultation and was the result of mismanagement by the government.
Rajya Sabha MP Syed Naseer Hussain, in his post on ‘X’, also demanded full reimbursement of all amounts collected under the Department of Haj Pilgrimage Management’s Circulation and Structural Reforms. He called for a mandatory tendering process and a Haj Price Stability Framework before the 2027 season.
