Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge urged the Center to ensure a “swift and thorough investigation” into the deadly blast near the Red Fort, especially as it took place in a high-security zone. At least eight people were killed after a high-intensity explosion tore through a slow-moving car as it stopped outside the Red Fort on Monday (Nov 10, 2025) evening.

“At this time of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and we pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” Mr Kharge said in a statement. Mr Kharge said those responsible for security failures must be held accountable. “The government must ensure a swift and thorough investigation into this explosion, which occurred in a high-security zone that was often overcrowded, to hold those responsible for this outage and incident accountable,” he wrote in a post on X.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, described the incident as “heartbreaking and disturbing”. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Congress general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal also expressed anguish over the incident. “The loss of so many lives is particularly painful and I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured. The whole country is united at this difficult moment,” he said, calling on the government to “quickly investigate this incident and shed more light on what happened.”
