On the symbolic protest against the slope of urban roads, the Congress councilor in Thrissur Corporation on Monday got into a corporation on their “blood -colored” clothing. The tension won when they protested inside and outside the council.
The first phase of the protest took place before the council meeting, and the leader of the opposition Rajan J. Pallan led the Congress councils in a symbolic “blood bath”. Demonstrators poured red on their bodies to represent blood, and present a sit-in in front of the mayor’s chamber.
The aim of the demonstration was to emphasize recent tragic accidents caused by broken, poorly maintained roads throughout the city. The Vishnudath of Udayanagar, who died after a private bus ran to him while turning to avoid the eaves on MG Road. Another label represented a couple who recently fell into an open runoff in Kožumbadam. “Forgive us, Vishnudath,” he read one of the boards and pointed to the alleged failure of the civic body to ensure road safety.
Soon after this symbolic protest, councilors, still in their red -stained clothes, marched at the council meeting and gave a problem inside the hall. The discussion quickly became rough because the members of Congress demanded an urgent debate on the conditions of the road. When the tempera was flared, they climbed to the tables and began to scream the slogans with a wreath in their hand. They argued that the sloping city road shows the negligence of administration.
The scene was reached by Crescendo when the protesters warned that they would place the wreath on the mayor’s chair by rejecting the Council meeting without discussing this matter. However, the ruling front claimed that the gesture was a direct threat against the mayor.
The mayor of M. K Varghes suspended 10 councilors of congress, including Rajan Pallan, from participating in two other councils. The ruling LDF called the protest “unprecedented and provocative”, some of which even accused the congress of issuing shrouded threats against the mayor by putting a wreath on his chair.
The Congress rejected the accusation and insisted that the protest was symbolic and non -violent. “Congress intensifies the protest inside and outside the Council unless the mayor and secretaries in recent death in the city were given a case of murder due to poor road condition,” said Mr. Rajan Pallan.
